Monday was spent meeting up with Dr Sarah Eppley, Dr Todd Rosenstiel and Hannah Prather from Portland State University and Dr Angelica Casanova-Katny from Universidad de Concepcion. I then organised my gear and attended a briefing/induction (in Espanol) at INACH (Chilean Antarctic Institute, Punta Arenas, Chile; below).

My home for the next 2 weeks is the Chilean Base Escudero. The people here are very welcoming and great company.

Internet here is unexpectedly quite good (late at night when not many are using it) allowing me to post this (fingers crossed it works) and there is also mobile phone reception.
